- EA-6/03 of European Cooperation for Accreditation
Following successful data evaluation and verification, we provide an accredited Verification Opinion. All documents are delivered in PDF format and hard copy.
Our Verification Approach
We view verification as an iterative process aimed at continuously improving the operator’s EU ETS and CORSIA management and control systems. Our approach includes:
- Pre-Contract Stage
- Strategic and Preliminary Risk Analysis
- Verification Plan Preparation
- Process Analysis
- Data Analysis
- Reporting
- Technical Review
- Final Verification Report & Statement
In this stage, we assess the requirements for "Reasonable Assurance", determine the verification team, and prepare a draft contract based on the complexity of the verification activities.
This step involves a comprehensive review of the organization's EU ETS and CORSIA management systems, and identifying risks that could lead to material misstatement or non-compliance in the annual emissions reports.
Based on the risk analysis, a verification plan is prepared. This includes a detailed verification program, a data analysis plan, and arrangements for site visits if required.
The process analysis involves site visits, interviews, document review, and verification of information. Various aspects of the organization's operations, quality control measures, and IT systems used are reviewed.
A comprehensive analysis of the EU ETS / CORSIA data collected is performed, which involves checking the data against benchmarking data and identifying any errors.
A detailed report containing all the findings of the verification process is prepared, including an issues log that is shared with the operator. Corrective actions are suggested as needed.
An independent review of the verification process, the findings, and the draft verification opinion is performed to ensure professionalism and accuracy.
The final verification opinion is provided to the Operator, which is to be submitted to the Competent Authority along with the verified emissions report.

- Annual Emissions Report Verification: Ensuring alignment with relevant legislation including Regulation (EU) 2067/2018, Regulation (EU) 2066/2018, and relevant national legislation.
- Verification of Activity Level: As per the provisions of the Executive Regulation (EU) 2019/1842.
We work diligently to minimize errors and omissions in the reports. In case of discrepancies, we promptly inform you, request corrective actions, and conduct re-verification if needed.
Our Verification Process
Our step-by-step approach to verification includes:
- Initial Disclosure: The company shares crucial information related to the verification process.
- Pre-Verification Stage: We visit your premises to assess your emissions monitoring plan.
- Verification Stage: A second visit to your premises to finalize the verification.
- Verification Statement Issuance: Following successful verification, we issue a Verification Statement for each of your facilities.
At Emicert, we ensure that our services are not only comprehensive but also adaptable to your unique needs, helping you meet your environmental goals while adhering to the necessary regulations.
Disclosure by the Company
The company provides the Verification Body with key elements required for the verification process. This includes the final Greenhouse Gas Emissions Permit, the Quality Assurance and Control System for monitoring and reporting emissions, all documents pertaining to its operations including the legal obligations, inventories of raw materials and products, and necessary certificates.
Pre-Verification Stage
At this stage, the Verification Body visits the company's facilities to perform a detailed examination of the company's emissions monitoring plan and relevant elements. The purpose of pre-verification is to assess the completeness, coherence, transparency, accuracy, and reliability of these elements and data. Any potential issues in emissions determination are identified, and the company is notified so they can take corrective action before the verification stage.
Verification Stage
The Verification Body once again visits the company's premises for the verification process. This stage involves the final examination of the facility's Report to verify its completeness, coherence, transparency, accuracy, materiality, and reliability. If any errors, omissions, or inaccuracies are identified that could lead to material differences, the verification stage may need to be repeated.
Issuance of Verification Statement
Following a successful verification process, the Verification Body will issue a Verification Statement for each of the company's facilities. This statement must accompany the Report when it's submitted to the Competent Authority.
This process is designed to provide a thorough and independent review of a company’s greenhouse gas emissions, helping to ensure that they’re in compliance with all relevant regulations and are accurately reporting their emissions data. It’s a crucial part of the ETS, which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in an economically efficient way. It’s important to note that the verification process must be conducted according to regulations such as Regulation (EU) 2067/2018 and Regulation (EU) 2066/2018, as well as any relevant national legislation.
