Air Quality Measurements
Design & Implementation of Air Quality Assessment Campaigns
Air pollution is contamination of the indoor or outdoor environment by any chemical, physical or biological agent that modifies the natural characteristics of the atmosphere.
Air quality management is a complex issue affecting business operations, public health and quality of life. ENVIROMETRICS provides integrated services for monitoring ambient air quality, assessment of air quality in the working environment and assessment of indoor air quality. The multidisciplinary team at ENVIROMETRICS has the necessary experience, know-how and equipment to meet the needs of business and local authorities.
ENVIROMETRICS has been accredited since 2008 according to ΕΝ ISO/IEC 17025 and applies standard methods for sampling and measuring gaseous pollutants and harmful factors (ΕΝ, ISO, EPA, VDI, ASTM, NIOSH, HSE), has specialized equipment and properly trained staff. In addition, it collaborates with accredited laboratories in Greece and abroad for the chemical analysis of the collected samples.
The evaluation of the results is carried out based on the Greek and European legislation as well as the proposed limits of international organizations (World Health Organization, Health and Safety Executive etc.).
Air quality assessment is frequently driven by the need to determine whether a standard or guideline has been exceeded, but it should also provide the information needed to estimate population exposure to air pollution and the effects on the health of the population. Our services include design and implementation of Air Quality measurements (according to Directives 2004/107/EC & 2008/50/EC and their implementation in the national law), around industrial areas and facilities as a requirement of the approved environmental permits and in rural areas for the needs of the local authorities.
Air quality in working environments is an important aspect of occupational health and safety, as poor air quality can have a significant impact on the well-being and productivity of employees. Greece has a comprehensive legal framework governing air quality in working environments on which we base our projects.
Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) refers to the air quality within buildings, especially as it relates to the health and comfort of building occupants. Indoor air quality is a major concern to businesses, building managers, tenants and employees because it can impact the health, comfort, well being and productivity of building occupants. Understanding and controlling common pollutants indoors can help reduce your risk of indoor health concerns.
- EPPB(Energy Performance Plan for Buildings)
- MERP(Municipal Emission Reduction Plans)
- SECAP(Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan)

- Energy Performance of Buildings(SEAK)
- Covenant of Mayors
Designed to meet the requirements of Law 4342/2015, the EPPB involves detailed data collection, meticulous analysis, and prioritization of municipal buildings to apply energy-saving measures and efficiency enhancements. We closely collaborate with municipalities to create these comprehensive plans, analyzing the primary data of the municipal building stock and the energy consumption of each property.
Our detailed assessment allows us to propose appropriate energy upgrade strategies for each building, considering factors like existing energy issues, the importance of the building’s preservation, and the building’s potential impact on the wider urban environment. A comprehensive technical report outlining the recommended actions and expected outcomes is provided. Additionally, we have developed a digital platform to streamline the process, allowing for efficient data input and analysis and easy generation of the EPPB technical report. Training services are also provided to familiarize interested parties with using the platform.
Under Law 4936/2022, we guide municipalities through the development of MERPs aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Our role includes assisting in primary data collection to record and evaluate the energy consumption of all the activities under a municipality’s jurisdiction. We then calculate the carbon footprint and establish realistic reduction targets for 2025 and 2030.
We also assist in identifying, prioritizing, and recording effective climate change mitigation measures to help the municipality meet its intended reduction goals. As with the EPPB service, a thorough technical report detailing the carbon footprint, planned mitigation measures, and expected outcomes is provided. This report is submitted to an independent accredited body for verification. We also provide a user-friendly digital platform for streamlined data analysis, report generation, and necessary training for its use.
As part of the European Commission’s Covenant of Mayors initiative, the SECAP service supports local authorities in implementing sustainable energy and climate policies. We work closely with municipalities to collect and analyze data about the activities within their geographical and administrative boundaries. This information enables us to quantify greenhouse gas emissions and determine the most representative emission factors per emission category.
The SECAP report delivered to the municipality includes a detailed carbon footprint, an assessment of climate risks, and a strategic action plan for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and adapting to climate change. This service is rounded off by entering the collected data, and it results into the Covenant of Mayors platform, thus maintaining transparency and facilitating international recognition for the municipality’s climate and energy action efforts.
