Design and Implementation of Air Quality and Noise Measurement Campaigns

Air pollution is a deviation from the natural atmospheric conditions instigated by chemical, physical, or biological agents, significantly impacting public health and business operations.

Envirometrics encapsulates a holistic approach towards air quality management through our tailored services encompassing ambient air quality monitoring, workplace air quality, and indoor air quality assessment. Our experienced multidisciplinary team is fully equipped to support businesses and local authorities in achieving regulatory compliance and promoting a healthier atmosphere.

Accreditation and methodologies

Envirometrics has proudly held accreditation per ΕΝ ISO/IEC 17025 since 2008, adhering to standardized methodologies for capturing and measuring gaseous pollutants and other hazardous elements (ΕΝ, ISO, EPA, VDI, ASTM, NIOSH, HSE). Our specialized equipment and skilled personnel ensure precise data collection, while our affiliations with accredited laboratories both locally and internationally allow for meticulous chemical analysis of the samples collected.

Evaluation and compliance

All air quality data is meticulously evaluated against Greek, European, and internationally recommended thresholds to deliver a comprehensive understanding of compliance status and potential health impacts. Our evaluations highlight when standards are exceeded and provide insight into population exposure to pollutants and their potential health implications.

Ambient air quality services

In line with Directives 2004/107/EC & 2008/50/EC, our services include designing and conducting air quality measurement campaigns around industrial zones and rural areas to meet environmental permit requisites and local authorities’ needs. Our ambient air determinations include:

  • PM10 & PM2.5 fractions of suspended particulate matter (EN 12341)
  • Heavy metals in the PM10 fraction (EN 14902)
  • Benzo(a)pyrene concentration (EN 15549)
  • Dioxin and furan concentrations (EPA method TO-9A)
  • Various harmful elements, like benzene, ozone, and sulfur oxides, using passive diffusion samplers.

Workplace air quality services

Ensuring favorable air quality in workplaces is pivotal for occupational health, safety, and overall productivity. We undertake projects to assess and enhance air quality in the workplace, aligning with Greece’s comprehensive regulatory framework. Our workplace air determinations cover:

  • Suspended particles concentration (EN 481)
  • Volatile organic compounds (NIOSH methods)
  • Heavy metals in workplace air
  • Various harmful factors using passive samplers.

Indoor air quality services

Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) significantly affects building occupants’ health, comfort, and productivity. Our indoor air quality services extend to:

  • Temperature & humidity
  • Light intensity
  • Suspended particles (dust)
  • Various harmful elements (formaldehyde, benzene, total volatile organic compounds, carbon dioxide-monoxide, etc.), using automated instruments and passive samplers.

Noise measurement services

Environmental noise, predominantly produced by human activities, is a source of unwanted or harmful outdoor sound. This includes noise generated through various means such as road, rail, water, and air transport, industrial installations and equipment, and other local noise sources. Complying with Presidential Decree 1180/81 stipulations, periodic noise measurements are requisite for establishments operating noise-inducing installations or equipment.

An integral aspect of a workplace’s hearing conservation and noise control program revolves around measuring noise levels and employees’ noise exposures. This process is vital for pinpointing work locations with prevailing noise issues, identifying employees subjected to potentially harmful noise levels, and determining the necessity for additional noise measurements, all in line with the provisions of Presidential Decree 149/06.

Envirometrics is accredited per ISO 1996-1, ISO 1996-2, EN 61672-1 for environmental noise measurements, and ΕΝ ISO 11201, EN 61672-1 for workplace noise measurements. We execute our projects utilizing certified, calibrated, high-precision equipment to ensure accurate and reliable noise measurement data. Our commitment is to aid organizations in adhering to noise regulation standards, providing a conducive work environment, and fostering community wellness.
